Marquet is dedicated to importing handmade accessories, gifts, and decor from Thailand and Vietnam with the goal of empowering artisans and entrepreneurs in developing countries by expanding their potential to reach a larger audience. Personal connection to the artisans with whom Marquet works allows business growth and fosters mutual trust and respect. Some of Marquet's goods will surface during a couple of our trips, furthering their mission.
Artist Diego Sierralta was raised in Maracaibo, Venezuela and currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from La Universidad del Zulia in 2004 with a degree in Graphic Design, and later moved to New York in 2008 where he completed the General Studies program at The International Center of Photography.
Diego is an exquisite human with unbridled talent and a singular imagination. He also made our logo out of the goodness of his heart between back-to-back shoots at work in Miami.

We met Gavelys through an organization called "Funsarep," a nonprofit that offers group therapy, art and theater classes, and other forms of support for women in the situation of internal displacement. Gavelys is originally from Atanque, Valledupar, about 8 hours by bus from Cartagena. She has been supporting herself and her family for over a decade weaving the traditional bags of the Kankuamo.
From Wayuu to Me works with the Wayuu people of Colombia and Venezuela in a concerted effort to directly support the Wayuu people and their unique craft. Read more about the organization and the Wayuu here.
