Real Cartagena: A Tour of Bazurto Market
Just 20 minutes outside of downtown Cartagena's "Old City" lies a well-hidden but must-see spot: Bazurto Market. This energetic, colorful, and unique market, feels less touristy than El Centro - and that's the point!
People hard at work selling their merchandise are always happy to see new faces pop by. Here you can buy a big bag of passion fruit, redsnapper, a bowl of fried rice with local crab, and pretty much anything else your heart desires. Anthony Bourdain came and filmed here - he was impressed and you will be, too.

Palenque Day Trip: An introduction to Afro-Colombian culture
Cartagena has long been one of Colombia's most important ports. For over 200 years, it was also a frequent point of entry for the slave trade. In Palenque, you’ll learn how it became the first free town of The Americas and liberated itself from Spanish rule. In 2005, Palenque became a UNESCO world heritage site and was recognized as a "masterpiece of the oral and intangible heritage of humanity. "
On this half-day tour, your group will ride to Palenque in private vehicle and spend your time exploring the cultural highlights of Palenque - from music and language, to religion, medicine, and food.

Cooking Experience with Local Chef: You Cook It, You Eat It
Cartagena's typical cuisine is famous for using two central ingredients: coconut and sugar cane. Most restaurants in the old city ("El Centro") do not prepare the classic dishes that older generations expect of coastal delicacies - but we will.
We'll start our day early with a trip to the famous, local market where we'll buy all of our produce and fish, just like the locals. After filling up our bags, we'll head to the chef's house where we'll begin prepping the day's recipes.
This experience is great for those looking to get off the beaten path and for foodies - informal or otherwise.
Beach Horseback Riding Excursion
This is a great excursion for first time visitors and returning travelers. This unique opportunity offers travelers a chance to ride a "Criollo" horse around town and other areas within the region. Enjoy the wind right on the beach of La Boquilla (a historical fishing zone), Manzanillo, and Playa de Oro with a stunning view of the eastern side of Cartagena.
Currently becoming a place for young travelers who want to share time with native Cartageneros, this fishing district has become a major destination and integral part of the city over the course of the last 15 years.
Private Boat to Islas Rosarios and Isla Baru
Enjoy Cartagena’s heavenly sunsets and historic downtown before heading off for a jaunt to Islas Rosarios by boat for an unforgettable day of white sand beaches and turquoise waters, where there are many recreational options to choose from.
Take a full day to enjoy the famous Islas Rosarios in a private boat for you and your travel partners. Enjoy a beach side lunch and take an extended dip in sparkling turquoise water.
Drop us a line to find out about our boat options - for couples or larger parties alike.
