James Anthony and regional assistants will guide photographers through a week-long exploration of Medellin’s many cultural landscapes using their cameras as passports.
Details: We’ll use Medellin as a backdrop for cultural and photographic exploration with our host and team leader, photographer James Anthony. Our goal is to provide opportunities throughout the week for our guests to grow their international photo portfolios. SMT will facilitate environmental, editorial, documentary, street, candid, and controlled opportunities for picture-making built into the itinerary.

Comuna 13 - Transformation Tour with Kasa Kolacho
Comuna 13 provides a classic street landscape for up-and-coming photographers to learn more about Medellin’s incredible past and bright future. Environmental portraits, visits with community organizations and leaders, architecture opportunities, and video, are all possible.

Day 2 (FEB 2 2019)
Santa Elena - Campesinos and the Heart of Medellin
Santa Elena is a small town located just east of Medellin that is destination pueblo for folks seeking cooler weather and is the birthplace of the ornate flower arrangements that are the "cornerstone of the Flower Festival in Medellin," the city's biggest event every August.

La Minorista - Local market scene
La Minorista is Medellin's local market and provides an inside glimpse of the hustle and bustle of daily life for many farmers, restaurants, and residents of Medellin.
Here we will have the opportunity to photograph inside in the still-life tradition while tasting an array of tropical fruits.

Day 4 (FEB 4 2019)
Day trip to Guatape + El Peñol
El Peñol de Guatape is a famous landmark in this region of Colombia. It is located in the town and municipality of Guatapé, famous for its colorful pueblo, outdoor activities, and breathtaking views. This opportunity provides an out-of-city experience for folks to hone in on natural and environmental photography. Images made in this region immediately inspire and and endear folks to Colombia. The pueblo is safe, fun, colorful, and bright. It is a great opportunity for photographers to shoot a traditional pueblo in new ways.

Day 5 (FEB 5 2019)
FREE DAY to explore any parts of Medellin that interest folks. Scarlet Macaw Trips will be on hand to coordinate and serve as concierge for people seeking further city activities or make connections as necessary.
